Occupational Therapist Band 5 – St Peters Hospital

St Peter’s Hospital is a specialist service supporting individuals living with degenerative neuropsychiatric conditions, acquired brain injuries, complex neurological disorders, dementia, and mental health conditions. We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team and help people achieve greater independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or developing Occupational Therapist seeking to build their skills within a highly specialised environment, with support from experienced senior clinicians and opportunities for ongoing professional development.

About the Role

As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will manage a varied caseload and deliver person-centred, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to individuals with complex needs. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions that support functional independence, community engagement, and meaningful occupation.

You will have the opportunity to work with patients experiencing:

• Huntington’s disease
• Complex neurological disorders

Key Responsibilities

• Complete functional assessments using both top-down and bottom-up approaches.
• Assess and support activities of daily living, including washing, dressing, feeding, mobility, transfers, and community access.
• Deliver individual and group occupational therapy interventions.
• Support patients to maintain independence, social participation, and quality of life.
• Contribute to specialist rehabilitation programmes within neurological and mental health settings.
• Assist with assessment and provision of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
• Participate in community-based rehabilitation and risk assessments.
• Evaluate intervention outcomes and adapt treatment plans accordingly.
• Apply best practice and evidence-based approaches in all areas of practice.
• Manage a caseload effectively
• Deliver individual and group interventions
• Complete patient-centred assessments and treatment plans
• Communicate effectively with service users, carers, and professionals
• Reflect on and evaluate your own practice
• Work within policies, procedures, and professional standards

Multidisciplinary Working

• Work collaboratively with nurses, psychologists and physiotherapists.
• Contribute to MDT meetings, CPA reviews, and care planning processes.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, carers, and external agencies.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in community rehabilitation and risk assessment.
• Experience supporting patients on Section 17 leave and under DoLS.
• Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
• Membership of relevant specialist interest groups.
• Full, clean driving licence.
